Biography
Meet the Practitioner
Brigette has had a lifelong interest in natural health. While living in South America she lived in the mountains for a time and was able to observe the local healers using natural resources to help when their friends had illnesses. Upon her return to the United States, she worked with the homeless and pursued her natural health interests informally. She then pursued a master’s degree in social work and worked as a counselor at a small rural mental health center for eight years.
As fate would have it, she started experiencing severe sinus problems and sought the help of an acupuncturist. “I knew from the moment the first needle was inserted that this was what I wanted to do,” she later said. Being naturally skeptical, she nevertheless pursued this non-traditional form of healing and found it to be “just what the doctor ordered” in terms of satisfying her need to be of service to others. Brigette went on to study acupuncture at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago from which she graduated with honors in 2001. In her continuing effort to be the best caregiver that she can be, she has earned a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine.
Following the tenets of the masters that have preceded her, Brigette has a profound belief in our capacity to heal ourselves. She thinks of herself as a facilitator towards this end. To be in her care is to have centuries of acquired wisdom brought to the challenge of learning how to best achieve optimal health. She brings the gifts of intellect and intuition to the table while providing a cohesive support system for her patients’ health care needs. Brigette M. Goulet is the acupuncturist and founder of The River Valley Wellness Center, P.C.
She is a Diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a licensed acupuncturist in the State of Indiana. She holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
